DOING THINGS THE MILA WAY
We are proudly independent, and we love food. We believe that people visit Mila not only to eat and drink, but to spoil themselves.
Every day, it seems, a customer says “this is the best ….. I’ve ever eaten”. We like to hear that of course, but we also pay attention when we’ve come up short, and we always do our best to make it better.
To make our food and drinks as good as possible we source fresh local ingredients wherever we can and make pretty much everything ourselves. When we say "fresh & home-made" we really mean it!
We use only free-range bacon, eggs and chicken in baking and cooking; the juicy Godalming sausages in Mila brunches, bakes and baps are hand-strung by the local butcher, and even our milk comes from a small local dairy.
We do indulgence in two ways: virtuous and wicked.
If healthy is what you want, try our home-made granola with yoghurt and fruit coulis, melt a wedge of butter in an oven-fresh spinach-and-feta muffin, fill up with home-made falafel, crunchy salad and humous in warm pita, have a fruit or veggie juice squeezed to order, or warm up with an infusion of fresh mint grown right here in the Mila herb garden.
We can’t say for sure what the most wicked item on the menu is (because so much is so popular) but we reckon it’s a close call between the luscious raspberry and coconut cake and Mrs Porter’s amazing millionaires’shortbread.
The range of delicious food on offer keeps many dedicated people very busy. Head chef Jodi is mostly responsible for the scrumptious cakes and bakes and mouth-watering salads; her mother Susan is the hot food guru whose steady supply of pies and soups and curries and pastas and veggie delights makes lunch the high point of many a working day (and weekend).
The rest of the team specialize in making the Mila experience one worth coming back for.
And if you don’t have time to stay (although you will want to) we do everything on the menu to take away.
